DIY Remove Candle Wax From Holder

I thought that my two candle holders were doomed — the wax from its pillars spilled over and pooled at the bottom, making it impossible to scrape out. But no, rest assured… there’s a pin for that!

Although I’ve been putting this chore off for weeks, I’m happy I finally tried it and that IT WORKED! YEAH! My two candle holders look brand new and shiny. I think my husband was also very impressed with me being so resourceful and fixing something in the house. Double brownie points.

Supplies

  • Candle holder(s)
  • Boiling water
  • Knife

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a medium pot.
  2. Gather your candle holder(s) that need cleaning and place them in the kitchen sink.
  3. Slowly pour the boiling water into your candle holder and watch the hot water work its magic! The wax will melt and float to the top.
  4. If you like, use a knife to wiggle around the edges of the candle.
  5. IMPORTANT: Leave the candle holder be until the water cools and/or the solid wax has solidified to the top. The water will be full of wax and if you dump it down your sink, you will line your pipes with wax.No, you don’t need that mess!
  6. You’ll be left with a disc — push along its sides, pull it out and throw in garbage. Added bonus: your garbage will smell like candles!
  7. Wipe the candle holders dry and scrape out any wax remnants - add new candles & enjoy!
