Balsamic Glazed Flank Steak

This is a dish that’s ALL about the sauce. Delicious, balsamic glaze-y goodness that is equally savory and sweet. Here is why this sauce will be added to my weekly dinner schedule:

  • At any given time, I have all of its ingredients in my fridge/cabinet. AKA: No food store trips required.
  • It’s a one pot sauce: just mix, stir, heat, stir, stir, stir…. 20 minutes later… done!

I served this with Easy Roasted Potatoes & Carrots, which was just enough veggies + starch. I’ll leave you with Hubs’ comment to me during dinner:

Hun, this is DELICIOUS.

There, you have it. Man-approved steak. Now educate yourself with the Finger Test to Check the Doneness of Meat go and make this!

Balsamic Glazed Flank Steak

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pound flank steak, trimmed of extra fat
  • Cooking spray
  • Salt and pepper
  • Steak seasoning ( I used McCormick’s Steakhouse Seasoning Grinder)

Balsamic Glaze

  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth

Directions

  1. Season the flank steak with salt, pepper and steak seasoning. Set aside.
  2. In a small pot over low heat, whisk the butter, finely chopped onion, balsamic, light brown sugar and beef broth.
  3. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring often until reduced to 1/4 cup.
  4. Meanwhile, either grill the flank steak to your liking or cook it on the stove (using a cooking spray on the pan first).
  5. Slice the steak into 1/4 inch pieces. Drizzle the balsamic sauce on top and serve immediately.
