Hi, I’m Ashley Kinder, the brains and wits behind Fancy Fork. By day I’m a PR/Comm pro, with a love of writing and nerdy communication strategies. I’m a firm believer that once autumn begins, it’s completely acceptable to bake every other day through the end of winter.
I love easy, adaptable recipes and fun seasonal crafts that make the holidays that much warmer. I also adore big thunderstorms that make your insides rattle and snow storms that force you into curling up in warm blankets to watch movies and sip hot chocolate (you’ll see lots of this in my “Bites of Life” posts).
I also absolutely love sinking myself into new books, never wanting to dog ear a page, biting my nails as to what happens next. I strongly believe in George R. R. Martin’s quote, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
I have an amazing I’ll-eat-anything-but-sweet-potatoes husband, Mike (aka: ‘Hubs’ in all of my posts) and precious daughter, Emma — we have a taste for adventure, great food and lots of smiles in between. Cookies are my kryptonite.
About Fancy Fork
Oddly enough, the idea for this blog sparked during a warm September 2012 commute home. Dazed by John Mayer humming on the speakers, my thoughts drifted to my loves in life — my husband, family, cooking (albeit, it’s really baking!) and fun new adventures random as experiencing a “first” to discovering off-beat hiking trails with lots of rock scrambles.
Along the way I found Pinterest to be a fantastic resource to bring everything I love together. New recipes for Mike to sample and family & friends to devour, crafts that made wedding planning that much easier and useful everyday information such as how to trap and kill pesky fruit flies (yes, I found a way!).
In January 2014 I made a New Year’s Resolution to self-host Fancy Fork… and I did it! As I master this beast and make a lot of mistakes, I’ll share my tips and favorite resources with you. Feel free to email me anytime at [email protected].
Life is wonderful and a beautiful, beautiful journey!
