I can’t believe my first Bites of Life post was a month ago! But looking at those red and orange trees… yeah, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen leaves at all!
I used an online photo collage tool called Fotor to make all the collages in this post. From a website nerd point of view, I love that I can group photos together without making you scroll forever! Plus, I think that multiple photos paint a more telling picture!
Beginning with... visiting my friend, Nichole, in early November. Like me, she’s a history nerd. We had a ton of fun touring the American Museum of Natural History. From photo opts with dinosaurs, learning about the sexual behaviors of fish and her gawking at the giant blue whale suspended from the ceiling, we had an awesome time. Oh, Nichole also firmly decided that one day she’s going to get married underneath said whale.
Then, I went through an obsessive Downton Abbey phase. Okay, fine, it’s not a phase. I’m still obsessed. In November I went to a ‘Downton Abbey Tea Experience’ and before you judge… I don’t care if I have the interests of a 70-year-old and that I was the youngest person on this tour. Couple British history and a proper afternoon tea together, and oh, how I’m in love! I even made a Downton Abbey Lemon Tart during an early viewing party of Season 4.
PS: Do you like me posing as Mrs. Anna Bates? Hehe
In between all of my girly nonsense, Hubs was AMAZING putting up art on the walls and piecing together an Overstock.com desk. Love him to pieces. While he was building the desk I was on my laptop and cracking up at his mumblings in the other room. So, I did what any great wife would do… I wrote down his quotes… “What the f* is a 4mm hex wrench?” Hahaha! There are so few people in the world that can make me laugh like that.
For the record, it’s a freaking sturdy desk!
Of course, November wouldn’t be complete without a food blogger’s favorite… Thanksgiving! We ate dinner with my family (pictured below) and then dessert at his. When you get married, they don’t tell you all the driving around you’ll do once the holidays come around! One of my life goals is to one day be the house that hosts a major holiday. That’s when I know I’ve made it!
I’ll just have to learn to make my aunt’s famous stuffed artichokes (lower right corner). Those are fought over. Claimed before dinner begins. Absolutely delicious.
The next day, when people crowded the malls for Black Friday, I neatly put away all of my pumpkin decorations and put on Christmas music and strung lights on my balcony. I miss the days when December meant crafts at school, early dismissals and long winter breaks. As an adult, it’s as if work kicks up a notch! But at least I have a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree on my desk!
And as for Hubs and I’s Christmas tree at home, it’s quite special. A 4′ tree that’s completely flat on one side and is tilted. Very special, indeed. But we love it all the same!
Just last week my friend Julie and I went to see the comedian Ralphie May. Oh. My. God. So raunchy, so hilarious. This wasn’t a part of the show, but this is one of my favorite clips – he talks about his wife taking his kids out for the day, giving him some time to just hang since he travels so much.
Anyway! We ended up meeting Ralphie in the theater lobby afterwards. He was so nice — stayed until EVERYONE either got an autograph or photo. BTW – thanks, Julie, for not making a silly face, too.
And then I went to Atlantic City for a hot 24-hours. Work trip, don’t get too excited. But I was DYING when I realized a networking reception was at the same. exact. place. I had my bachelorette party two summers ago. I took a picture (upper right, below) and sent it to my friends asking, “Remember this place? … Pole?” Hahahaha
But through it all, my favorite moments remain the same… cozy Sunday afternoons with Hubs, in pajamas until 4pm, just relaxing and being giant mushes because… we can! Looking forward spending forever having little moments like this with him.
