Just where did the summer go? It’s like yesterday I dusted off my shorts and bikinis, ready to enjoy long afternoons at the pool praying, just praying, that this year my Swedish skin would accept a tan.
Now it’s pumpkin this, pumpkin that – which, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love. I just want to stomp my feet a bit before I fully give into the glorious season that is fall. Here’s a look back at my fabulous summer of 2014.
Beginning with an incredible OneRepublic outdoor concert at Jones Beach Theater. It was three gals, myself and two besties (Anna & Julie!) and we sang almost every last word, including for the opening acts The Script and American Authors.
Favorites: OneRepublic “Secrets“, The Script “For The First Time” and American Authors “Believer“.
Celebrating my birthday at Les Misérables (amazing) on Broadway, followed by Hubs and I’s 2nd wedding anniversary. Oh, I love him!
Painting tomatoes apples at a BYOB painting class with my Mom. This was the first time we ever took a class together and it was lots of fun! Luckily my skills slightly improved since my peacock-penguin painting earlier this spring.
Continuing on my painting spree with my new job at Benjamin Moore, learning that there’s so much science and art that goes into a gallon. From painting an office pillar in Chalkboard Paint (I couldn’t resist scribbling a Beyonce quote!) to going on a video shoot in NYC with celebrity contractor, Stephen Fanuka, it’s been a whirlwind!
Not to mention that Hubs even helped paint his Mom’s front door with Benjamin Moore’s All-Purpose Fresh Start Primer and Regal Select Exterior High-Build in a Semi-Gloss. I totally drank the Kool-Aid, I know.
And with that came treats, such as a week-long celebration that included a giant cake made out of Benjamin Moore paint cans. And, a team building day at America’s oldest winery (est. 1839), Brotherhood Winery.
Enjoying long summer days, including a day at a local wine festival with Hubs, my Mom and cousins Kaitlyn and Lauren. Later having my Mom rush home to take a nap because she’s “never done wine shots before.”
Seeing my brother, Marshall, while he’s on leave from the Marines. He’s honestly the only person in my family that I look like. My family promises me we’re not adopted, but I have doubts (jk!).
Sneaking in as much time down the shore as possible, and of course loving big Sunday breakfasts, Hubs’ Rustic Spinach & Shrimp Salad and big muscles as Hubs gets fitted for a suit. Le sigh.
Squeezing in one last nod to summer in Seaside Heights, NJ with family. I enjoyed my very first fried Oreo (oh.my.god), went crabbing with the helpful instruction of my sister-in-law (“just pull it up, real fast!”) and learned that when you paint your toes before a beach day, sand becomes part of the design.
Celebrating Fancy Fork’s 2 year anniversary on September 13th. Can you believe it’s been two years already?! So proud of my little blog.
And finally… oh, so gently… easing into fall. Attending my very first hot Glowga class (where glow in the dark meets 80s music) with one of my oldest friends, Blair, and being completely stunned that even my shins can sweat.
Purchasing my first pumpkin coffee of the season from The Fresh Market, buying an adorable owl candle holder from HomeGoods and taking a glorious bite out of my first cider donut of the season.
Anddddd, I’m sold. Autumn, I’m all yours.
