Spring is all about new beginnings. There’s new life, opportunities and growth. What a perfect season to reflect exactly what was going on in my life: a precious little girl growing in my belly! Although Baby Girl ran our “to-do” list up the wahzoo, I managed to squeeze in a bit of fun, starting with…
Going to a local biannual Rummage Sale with my Mom where I scored an armful of vintage picture frames and a wall organizer that I freshened up with two coats of paint (Benjamin Moore ADVANCE Semi-Gloss in Chantilly Lace OC-65).
Getting completely overwhelmed by all of the love at my baby shower. Baby Girl received so many gifts: dresses, hair accessories, tiny shoes, toys and a gorgeous stroller. Oh, and not to be forgotten… a New Jersey Devils onesie for all the games she’ll watch with her Daddy.
Being active, despite being in my third trimester! Hubs and I went on two last hiking adventures, including our favorite trail at the Delaware Water Gap — 1,150 feet via the Mt. Tammany trail! Talk about feeling invincible. After that hike I felt like I could conquer the world.
Feeling so loved at the baby shower thrown by my friends at work. A tea party with cupcakes?! So freaking adorable. I knew I was going to miss these girls like crazy.
Entertaining my inner history nerd at Ellis Island with my parents. Believe it or not, this trip was on my bucket list. There’s something so incredible about standing in a building that first introduced millions of people to our country.
We even went on a “behind the scenes” tour of the island’s medical buildings (that’s why we’re wearing hard hats!). Baby Girl even had her first photo taken with the Statue of Liberty.
Counting down the weeks, getting closer and closer to my July due date. Hubs indulging me with some Rita’s Italian ice (mmm mango!). We even took some baby classes, learning how to give a sponge bath and swaddle. Oh, and that’s me with my feet in a bucket of ice water. I nearly begged for it because I was so hot. #InsanePregnancySymptoms
Knowing that there was no way that I would slip into a bathing suit, so opting for some toesies in the water. Baking some delicious blueberry scones (recipe here!) and enjoying Fourth of July fireworks with Hubs and friends.
Allowing for one last adventure before Baby Girl arrived with a trip to Philly: a walk around the historic section, beer tasting at Yards Brewing Company (thank God for its homemade root beer!) and tour of Eastern State Penitentiary (that’s Al Capone’s cell on the bottom left).
Knowing we couldn’t leave Philly without taste testing cheesesteaks at the famous rivalries Geno’s vs. Pat’s. For each location we opted for provolone and onions. The winner? Pat’s!
And finally the moment we spent months looking forward to… meeting Baby Girl for the first time. Our sweet Emma. As new parents Hubs and I are over the moon in love, with her and with each other all over again.
