I’m loving the trend of metallic tablescape accents. Classy, with a little bit of bling. The perfect DIY project.
After seeing metallic animals all over Pinterest, I knew I had to make them for my friend’s jungle themed baby shower. All you need are plastic animals that have some texture to them and 1-2 cans of metallic spray paint. Oh, and some newspaper so you don’t end up with a gold floor.
First, a thank you to my Hubs for spray painting for his preggo wife. Bonus, now he knows how to make metallic accents. The possibilities are endless!
Supplies:
- Plastic animals (textured surface, preferred)
- 1-2 cans metallic spray paint, such as Krylon Metallic Brass (12 oz)
- Newspaper or drop cloth
To get started, lay newspaper or a drop cloth in a well-ventilated area. Spread out the animals and evenly spray paint them from about 1 foot away. Allow 15-30 minutes to dry.
Once the animals are dry to the touch, flip them on their sides to spray paint the bellies. Let dry 15-30 minutes. You’re almost done, I promise.
Lastly, stand the animals straight up and give them one last gold coating. Let dry for 1 hour.
Congratulations, you’re done!
