When was the last time you cleaned your blush makeup brush?
Personally, I couldn’t remember and it was a good thing I stumbled on a pin for a DIY makeup brush cleaning concoction. It disinfects, dissolves grease/makeup, leaves no film and is inexpensive. Your brush may have a slight vinegar smell after this process, but hey, it’s clean and no longer home to grossness.
First, you swirl your brush around to remove particles. Oh, hey, leftover makeup particles.
Then you see proof that your brush was dirty. Told ‘ya!
Cheers to a clean makeup brush!

- 1 tablespoon of white distilled vinegar
- 1 cup of hot water
- Measuring cup
Instructions
- Fill measuring cup with very hot water to 1 cup mark. Mix in 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with your makeup brush.
- As you swirl your brush around you’ll start to see not-so-nice particles floating to the surface.
- Let brush soak for about 15-20 minutes, followed by a cold rinse and smudging brush on a paper towel to remove any leftover makeup. Didn’t think your brush was dirty? Oh yes it was, just look at the water!

Thanks for posting this! I’ve also cleaned my makeup brushes with olive oil and with baby shampoo, both of which did a great job of cleaning my brushes, and didn’t leave any unpleasant smell 🙂
