What a perfect way to start off a Sunday — with an Egg in a Hole breakfast! It’s easy, quick and delicious.
I found a pin for an Egg in a Hole recipe with salsa fresca months ago and finally came around to making it. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the ingredients on hand to make the salsa, but the plain egg in toast was great! You’ll need a whooping three ingredients to make this breakfast.

Ingredients
- 2 slices of rye bread
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 large eggs
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- Using a small glass or cookie cutter, about 2½-inches in diameter, cut a hole out of the bread.
- Toast the two slices of bread. If you’re making bacon or sausage, now would be a good time to start cooking it.
- While toasting, melt the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Once the two slices are toasted, place the bread slices together in the pan. Crack an egg into each hole. Cover the pan with a lid for about 2 minutes.
- Remove the lid and let the egg set and done to your liking. Serve immediately with salt and pepper.
