DIY Hydrangea Spring Wreath

I love hydrangeas. I think they’re so beautiful and delicate. They scream of warm, whimsical nights full of twinkling lights and candlelight. Oh, wait… that was my August wedding. :)

I had two small arrangements on each table during my reception, oh how I loved them! I opted for the small, green variety. Take a look:

SpringWreath4Back to reality now… I had a small grapevine wreath that I originally used for a DIY Autumn Wreath, then later re-purposed as a simple DIY Christmas Wreath.  Wow, I’m really getting mileage out of that thing! Now it’s onto #3 – a springtime hydrangea wreath. However, this time I made  two wreaths:

  • Front Door: The new, larger one, stepped out below
  • Back Door: The re-purposed #3, smaller wreath, pictured at bottom

This is an easy project that takes only about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete. My Mom and I made these two wreaths today, probably in under 10 minutes. It was her idea to bunch the three colors like that. Love it!

DIY Hydrangea Spring Wreath

Supplies

  • 1 large grapevine wreath
  • 3 large fake hydrangea flowers
  • Scissors

Directions

  1. Snip each flower stem with your scissors, leaving about 5-6 inches at the bottom (note: if your scissors don’t cut all the way through the stem because there’s a wire, just bend the stem where you cut and it will break off).
  2. Take your first flower and weave the stem through the grapevine wreath, securing it in place.
  3. Repeat for remaining two flowers.
  4. If your hydrangea flowers came with leaves, chances are they pop off. Take two and weave its stem in the wreath to secure in place.
